Stand up for Peace in the Middle East and Against the Pro-War Policies of AIPAC!

On May 3-5, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) will hold its annual convention in Washington DC to rally its supporters to
push the U.S. government to support the Israeli government without conditions. AIPAC is advocating an aggressive approach to Iran;
supporting Israel's continuing to siege on Gaza and its refusal to cooperate with a UN investigation into violations of international law;
and backing the Israeli government’s refusal to engage in substantive peace negotiations with the elected Palestinian leaders.

It's time to expose AIPAC’s pro-war stance and take a stand in favor of human rights and international law. Join CODEPINK and other groups in DC May 2-5 in a variety of activities planned throughout the convention. E-mail for more information.

Schedule of Events:

We'll be rallying in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, Massachusetts every Saturday morning April 4 to May 30, 2009 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Please join us to DEMAND JUSTICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

"THERE IS NO LONGER ANY DOUBT AS TO WHETHER THE CURRENT [BUSH] ADMINISTRATION HAS COMMITTED WAR CRIMES. THE ONLY QUESTION THAT REMAINS TO BE ANSWERED IS WHETHER THOSE WHO ORDERED THE USE OF TORTURE WILL BE HELD TO ACCOUNT." --- Maj. Gen. Antonio M. Taguba (Ret.)

Start: 13:00

Join us in Philly on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009. Activists from around the east coast are converging on the “Army Experience Center” (AEC), a 14,000 square foot atrocity built by the Department of Defense at a cost to taxpayers of $12 million.

The AEC gives kids as young as 13 a chance to play extremely violent video games, as well as sit inside real Apache helicopters, tanks & humvees mounted with M-16 assault rifles. The youth are enticed to jump on board and kill the “hadjis”. Right next door is the largest indoor skateboarding park which attracts local youth. Kids can be seen going from having fun skateboarding to playing bloody “war games” sanctioned by the US Army.

Start: 14:00

Shut Down the Army Experience Center at Franklin Mills Mall
By Pat Elder

Killing is fun -- and life is cheap at the Army Experience Center at the Franklin Mills Mall in suburban Philadelphia.

"This is so cool!" This is so cool!" The enthralled 13 year-old kept repeating as he squeezed rounds from his M-16, picking off "enemy combatants" while perched on a real Army Humvee.

We're in the new Army Experience Center in suburban Philadelphia and the young teen, who doesn't look older than eleven, was obviously impressed with the Army's killing machines. "I just came to the mall to skateboard in the skate park across the hall but everyone said this was pretty cool. I just had to try it and its great!"

Start: 14:00

Dave Zirin will interview his hero, the historian Howard Zinn, on stage in Madison, Wisc on May 2nd.

A Powerful Model for Public Action

A large-scale 'Bail-out working people - Not the Banks' teach-in' and mass mobilization planning meeting' scheduled for San Francisco May 9 is a hopeful harbinger of things to come.. This teach-in is heavily supported by organized labor and may well serve as a model for teach-ins in other areas. Such teach-ins can help to usher in a new era of greatly intensified grass-roots struggle against the power of finance capital in the U.S. and other countries with their anti-labor and anti-people policies.

Teach-ins first appeared in the U.S. in the 1960's, when they played a major role in mobilizing mass resistance to the Vietnam War. A 'teach-in' involves peaches - and close interaction with the audience - by academic and social organizers seeking to inform students and the public about social or political matters which have reached the level of acute crisis.

Start: 13:00
End: 17:00

Bail Out Working People - NOT the Banks!
Join us on May 9 in San Francisco for a
TEACH-IN & MASS MOBILIZATION PLANNING MEETING

Learn about what is happening in the labor movement and in our communities to fight for the interests of working people.
Help organize a mass mobilization around our demands, including:

  • Massive job-creation program.
  • Single-payer healthcare for all.
  • Moratorium on home foreclosures and evictions.
  • Pass the Employee Free Choice Act.
  • Tax the rich - don't bail out the banks.
  • Money for jobs and social services, not for war

Speakers to be announced.

The bankers have organized themselves and vigorously lobbied for bailouts. We, working people, need to organize ourselves to demand policies in the interest of working people as whole.

The government should defend our interests, not the interests of the rich. After all, we are the majority, and we had no part in creating this crisis.

Harvard now has a responsibility to revoke the fellowship. Mr. Feith was one of the six alleged war criminals named in the case by the Spanish court headed by magistrate Baltaser Garzon (who, by the way, also prosecuted former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet).  The charge is that all six sanctioned torture.
