CODEPINK and Iranian Women for Peace and Justice to host "teach-in" in

Sen. Evan Bayh's office, in protest of Senate Resolution 580

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind) should sharpen his pencils and prepare to take some notes.

With a dry erase board, notebooks, small signs and brown bag lunches in hand, members of CODEPINK, Iranian Women for Peace and Justice and other peace organizations will visit Bayh's office Thursday to host a teach-in on the major flaws of S. Res. 580, which Sen. Bayh sponsored.

The resolution, like its companion bill H. Con Res. 362 which CODEPINK has lobbied against for the past few weeks, proposes to impose even stricter sanctions with the Iranian people despite evidence that sanctions will not achieve the desired results. It will not disarm Iran. Instead, these sanctions will hurt everyday Iranians, especially the most vulnerable.

In this office teach-in, CODEPINK and IWFP will call for greater diplomacy.
