DISTRIBUTE WIDELY
We pay tribute and give honor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on the 40th anniversary of his assassination, the world's most famous and revered whistleblower. He had the courage to stand tall and blow the whistle on the United States government -- corruption, lies, racism, and the Vietnam War.
So on this day, we request everyone to rise in support of whistleblowers and civil rights activists and to rededicate ourselves to fighting for justice and equal access to economic and political parity.

Edge of Sports Nation: I am proud to report that I will be speaking on Saturday June 21st in Chicago at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare on a panel called “1968: The Athletes Revolt.“
Speaking along side me will be Dr. John CARLOS from the 1968 Olympic Black Power Salute, and Dave MEGGYESY, former NFL Player who retired in 1969 in protest of the way the league was so intertwined with the Vietnam War and dehumanization of athletes. El Sereno, California screening of American Blackout
Many have heard of the alleged voting irregularities that occurred during the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004. Until now, these incidents have gone under-reported and are commonly written-off as insignificant rumors or unintentional mishaps resulting from an overburdened election system.
American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 while following the story of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. McKinney not only took an active role
investigating these election debacles, but has found herself in the middle of her own after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Congress has heard from politicians, pundits, and generals, but not, up to this point, from the average boots-on-the-ground soldier.
On May 15th, Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) and the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) begin the process of righting this imbalance with Winter Soldier on the Hill. Nine members of IVAW will testify under oath before the CPC about rules of engagement, the killing and abuse of civilians, the use of drop weapons, and the true consequences of the "surge."
Winter Soldier on the Hill will allow the US Congress to be more fully informed about the situation in Iraq through soldiers’ eyewitness accounts of the on-going military occupation, while they debate (more than likely for the last time during the Bush-Cheney administration) the funding for U.S. military operations in Iraq.

Pennsylvania, a key battleground state considered by many to be the next Florida or Ohio, allows 51 of its 67 counties to vote on high-risk paperless electronic vote machines. Renewed and vibrant concerns over the vulnerability of these machines, and a looming fall presidential election, make for a timely Bucks County, PA appearance of the new feature-length documentary, UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections.
UNCOUNTED, written, produced, and directed by multiple Emmy award-winner David Earnhardt, exposes the war being waged on the core of our democracy - our right to vote - by exposing the systemic problems that plague our nation's elections and disenfranchise voters - including Jim Crow-like voter suppression, voter intimidation, under-voting, provisional balloting, the privatization of the election process, and electronic voting.

On Long Island They're Resisting the War in the Malls
Susan McKeon-Steinman was arrested in the Smith Haven Mall on Long Island in New York State on the occasion of the death of the 4,000th US soldier in combat in Iraq. She was among 30 protesters that day, and she refused to leave the mall when asked to by guards. Malls in New York are not considered public places, but private property - and anyone can be charged with trespassing. Since then, a movement has been growing, and activists are going on a Mall Tour taking peace demonstrations to these privatized public spaces around Long Island.
This Thursday morning McKeon-Steinman goes on trial. She will plead not guilty by reason of following a higher law and attempting to save lives. She will request a jury trial. Please be there to show your support.
