We must keep speaking out against the "Emergency Supplemental Bill" that will fund the Iraq occupation into 2009 ($172 billion more). Congress will be voting on the Bill this week.

Nine members of IVAW will testify under oath before the CPC about rules of engagement, the killing and abuse of civilians, the use of drop weapons, and the true consequences of the "surge."

Winter Soldier on the Hill will allow the US Congress to be more fully informed about the situation in Iraq through soldiers’ eyewitness accounts of the on-going military occupation, while they debate (more than likely for the last time during the Bush-Cheney administration) the funding for U.S. military operations in Iraq.

performance of its 20th Anniversary production of Lee Blessing's TWO
ROOMS -- a penetrating political drama about hostage-taking, the
story-hungry press, and the staggering ineptitude of government which,
despite the twenty intervening years, remains frighteningly relevant
-- to benefit Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) at The
Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street) in Manhattan.

On Long Island They're Resisting the War in the Malls

Susan McKeon-Steinman was arrested in the Smith Haven Mall on Long Island in New York State on the occasion of the death of the 4,000th US soldier in combat in Iraq. She was among 30 protesters that day, and she refused to leave the mall when asked to by guards. Malls in New York are not considered public places, but private property - and anyone can be charged with trespassing. Since then, a movement has been growing, and activists are going on a Mall Tour taking peace demonstrations to these privatized public spaces around Long Island.

This Thursday morning McKeon-Steinman goes on trial. She will plead not guilty by reason of following a higher law and attempting to save lives. She will request a jury trial. Please be there to show your support.

PEACE ACTIVISTS COURT APPEARANCE

We plan, for the next couple of weeks, to do leafleting and discussion
with our neighbors throughout Nadler's district, about his intransigence
on impeachment. Each week, we will pick another high traffic spot in this
