On Thursday, May 22, Roust Theatre Company hosts a special
performance of its 20th Anniversary production of Lee Blessing's TWO
ROOMS -- a penetrating political drama about hostage-taking, the
story-hungry press, and the staggering ineptitude of government which,
despite the twenty intervening years, remains frighteningly relevant
-- to benefit Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) at The
Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street) in Manhattan.

In addition to the performance of TWO ROOMS, the May 22nd benefit
includes a wine reception and post-show talkback with the cast and
creative team, director James Phillip Gates, and special guest IAVA
Executive Director and Founder Paul Rieckhoff, who is also the author
of the controversial book "Chasing Ghosts: A Soldier's Fight for
America from Baghdad to Washington."

"Roust strongly believes in the work the IAVA does on behalf of
veterans of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan," says Mr. Gates,

Whistleblower Week in Washington – W3
Convene by the No FEAR Institute
May 12-16

DISTRIBUTE WIDELY

We pay tribute and give honor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on the 40th anniversary of his assassination, the world's most famous and revered whistleblower. He had the courage to stand tall and blow the whistle on the United States government -- corruption, lies, racism, and the Vietnam War.

So on this day, we request everyone to rise in support of whistleblowers and civil rights activists and to rededicate ourselves to fighting for justice and equal access to economic and political parity.

Jessalyn Radack's latest column: The Justice Department's Litigation Security Group and Its Ethics Violations in the Al-Haramain Case
http://writ.news.findlaw.com/commentary/20080508_radack.html

Ms. Radack's stunning article conclusion reminds us of the standard between legitimate and abusive government inquiry: "In sum, there are well-established and fairer procedures that could have been used in the Al-Haramain case. Yet the U.S government decided not to use them. The fact that this is a state-secrets case is no excuse. The state secrets privilege is supposed to protect national security, not serve as an end-run around basic legal ethics that undermines the integrity of the legal process."

On Monday morning, as part of Whistleblower Week in Washington, Radack is moderating a panel on secret surveillance featuring Eric Lichtblau, who won the Pulitizer Prize for breaking the story.

Join us this Monday night for a live sketch comedy show produced by Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead: “Shoot the Messenger.” After comedy sketches, Lizz will interview Jeff Cohen as Act II or postscript.

Shoot The Messenger is a satirical wrap-up of the week's news from the brain of Daily Show Co-creator Lizz Winstead. A live sketch comedy show incorporating multi-media elements, it gives us the world as seen through the filters of the fictional producers and on-air talent at "Wake Up World," the worst morning news show in America. It is an indictment - both hilarious and scathing - not only of the newsmakers, but of the news media that molds them. More info: http://www.shootthemessengernyc.com/
