Carl Rising-Moore has asked that we pass along this information. GW Bush arrived at the Crawford "ranch" on Monday August 13. The duration of his stay is not known, but it is suspected that he is starting his annual summer vacation at that time. A continued presence near the ranch at the checkpoints is vital. We feel its our responsibility to continue to stand up with our peaceful protests. Being close to Crawford, we have a unique grassroots opportunity to directly speak truth to power. If you can spend some time at Camp Casey III, the checkpoint, or in the ditch with Carl, please contact him directly at 317-777-4805. Transportation will be available from CC III to the checkpoints. It's time we took responsibility for what our country is doing. Almost a year ago, America went to the polls and sent a clear message to our government: it's time to bring our troops home from Iraq. But our responsibility does not end when we exit the voting booth. This war is being fought with our money and by our sons and daughters, and we cannot wait for the next election and hope that America's government will eventually catch up with its people. It's time we went directly to Congress – not with letters or marches, lobbying or phone calls – we'll meet them inside the House and Senate chambers. Congress reconvenes after their summer vacation on September 4th. Let's be there to let them know that we are watching. We are calling on Americans to join us in the Capitol on September 4th, where we will gather in the House and Senate chambers and, at a given signal, rise to our feet together to stand watch over our government. Fighting Bob Fest is an annual Chautauqua featuring progressive speakers, networking opportunities, and entertainment. Fighting Bob Fest carries on the tradition of Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette by providing a forum for progressive ideas on issues facing Wisconsin and the nation. Public participation in government has tragically eroded, corporations dominate the policymaking process, and elected officials systematically neglect the public interest in favor of private ones. Freedom and justice are defended through education, and the exchange of ideas promotes solidarity among progressives. To this end, Fighting Bob Fest strives to provide citizens with a forum for democratic participation where frustrations with current policies can be constructively molded into calls to action. "War Made Easy" reaches into the Orwellian memory hole to expose a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations. "War Made Easy" gives special attention to parallels between the Vietnam war and the war in Iraq. Start: 18:00

Background: Wayne County Circuit Judge Deborah Thomas is under attack for challenging the violation of constitutional rights in Wayne County Circuit Court. In 2004 Judge Thomas challenged the lack of representation of African Americans on juries when a jury panel appearing in front of her contained only one African American out of 30 individuals. In response, Chief Judge Mary Beth Kelly ordered that all challenges to jury composition be removed from Judge Thomas and heard by herself. Recently, because of Judge Thomas’ insistence that the constitutional rights of all people, including the poor, be assured in her courtroom, Judge Thomas has come under further attack and is facing charges in front of the (all white) Judicial Tenure Commission. An object (or an idea) is viral when it has the ability to spread copies of itself or change other similar objects to become more like (it) when those objects are simply exposed to the viral object. A general strike is proposed for the United States on September 11, 2007, the sixth anniversary of the 9/11/2001 attacks on New York City, Arlington, VA, and Shanksville, PA. The general strike movement has no clearly named leadership. It's described as an Internet viral effort. Wikipedia defines viral efforts on the Internet as: An object (or an idea) is viral when it has the ability to spread copies of itself or change other similar objects to become more like (it) when those objects are simply exposed to the viral object. General strikes, more common in Europe, are events that shut down the normal operations of a city, state, or nation for a period of time. Start: 00:00

Tuesday, Sept 11 at 7:15pm at Naro Cinema in Norfolk, Va. NO END IN SIGHT The first film of its kind to chronicle the reasons behind Iraq's descent into guerilla warfare, warlord rule, criminality, and anarchy, writer/director Charles Ferguson's jaw-dropping documentary is an insider's tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness, and venality. Ferguson examines how the principal errors of U.S. policy largely created the insurgency and chaos that engulf Iraq today. And it asks the question: How did a group of men with little or no military experience, knowledge of the Arab world, or personal experience in Iraq come to make such flagrantly debilitating decisions? Ending the war in Iraq has been DFA's priority from day one, and we will not stop until every soldier is home. Now we're at another critical juncture. On September 11, General Petraeus is expected to report to Congress on the success of the "surge" in Iraq. He's supposed to outline our progress and our setbacks over the past few months. But, we already know that's not going to happen. The General's report is going to "actually be written by the White House, with inputs from officials throughout the government."¹ President Bush will try to mislead the public again with a whitewashed progress report from Iraq. We won't let him get away with it. America needs the truth about what's happening in Iraq. The media must be stopped from blindly "reporting" more positive spin from the Administration. Start: 00:00

Today's the day! It's National, nationwide, Act on Iraq day, a campaign for a national call-in day to Congress to end the Iraq War. What do you believe? (1) Do you believe that the Iraq War has distracted us from the real war on terror, and has diminished American influence and standing in world affairs? (2) Do you believe that the death of even one more American soldier in this unnecessary war is too many? (3) Do you believe that the $177 million we spend each day on fighting a misguided, poorly planned war is a national travesty? (4) Do you believe that the Iraq War has made us less safe by straining our military to the breaking point, pulling our focus from Afghanistan where Al Qaeda has rebuilt its forces, and fostering the recruitment of hundreds if not thousands of martyrs aligned against the U.S.? (5) Do you believe that Congress has denied the overwhelming will of the American people to end the war? Start: 15:00
