PROGRESSIVE MURAL PROJECT aka BURNING THE HOUSE DOWN

Just north of Faribault, Minnesota is a one story, 3200 sq ft building, for years States Tavern and later a four-plex residence, Twin Oaks. This building has been condemned and will be burned on the evening of May 31, 2007.

There are seven of us preparing for the burn. We ask for your help. There are just two days left while the exterior surface is being muralized by artists with meanings of rebirth from fire, expressing social concerns suggesting inclusive diversity vs an exclusive mono=culture; choice; evolution; positivity over negativity; learning from our mistakes; awakening and awareness; creativity and grwoth; and of course........POLITICAL REGIME CHANGE.

The US Social Forum is more than a conference, more than a networking bonanza, more than a reaction to war and repression. The USSF will provide space to build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, share our analysis of the problems our communities face, and bring renewed insight and inspiration. It will help develop leadership and develop consciousness, vision, and strategy needed to realize another world.

A citizens summit rally and peace march has been planned for July 1st at 1:00 pm in Kennebunkport, Maine.

President Bush will be entertaining President Vladamir Putin in Kennebunkport, Maine on July 1st and 2nd. The Kennebunk PEACE Department jumped right on this and the permits for a rally and march are in the works.

Since Putin will be in Kennebunkport we can count on hoards of INTERNATIONAL PRESS, the WHITE HOUSE PRESS CORP and national and local media to be present. We want to turn out big numbers for this!! Our theme is TROOPS OUT NOW**BUSH OUT NOW and the Impeachment folks will be really coming out strong for this.

We will meet at 1:00pm on Sunday July 1st at the Consolidated School at 25 School Street in Kennebunkport and then we will march up OCEAN AVE. to the Bush compound. Groups and individuals are encouraged to bring banners, flags, signs and noisemakers, as well as water and snacks.

I love this country and and what's left of our ideals.  Tomorrow I will celebrate my free speech.  I honor the soldiers, the activists , the clergy, the legislators and all who serve our country with noble intent.  But that does not mean I will be silent when I see our flaws.  If you are convinced now that something is painfully wrong, please come stand with us.  It is the obligation of our elected representatives to defend the constitution and when it has been violated, we must hold them accountable.  Come to the Natick 4th of July parade,  and call upon Congress to impeach the Vice-President and President and to bring our troops home.  Signs will be provided, discussion welcome. 10 AM - 12 PM.  Hope to see you there.

Residents and visitors/tourists alike are invited to join in with Vets for Peace and their parade unit in beautiful Baileys Harbor Wisconsin on July 4th at 10am. Baileys Harbor has held a parade on the 4th for more than fifty years, and for the past seven years we have produced a "protest" parade unit, with ever more crowd approval since its inception.

If you wish to participate, simply head to the beginning point of the parade on the south end of the village and look for the big red truck in the middle of the parade. We will have plenty of extra signs, flags and items to pass out to parade watchers. Why sit and watch when you can get a little exercise and let other folks know where you stand? • A representative of Tammy Baldwin's office will receive over 7,000 names of petitioners calling for the commencement of impeachment investigations against Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and others.
• Alders and County Board Supervisors will call for impeachment.
• Veterans will demand House members do their duty and impeach.

Rally starts at noon and will last at least an hour followed by a march to US House Rep. Tammy Baldwin’s office at 10 E. Doty St. (corner of Doty and M.L. King Blvd.) and Sen. Kohl’s office at 14 W. Mifflin on the Capitol Square.

This convention was originally called forth by Cindy Sheehan as a response to the betrayal of the antiwar cause by Congress. At the New York City Town Meeting, former Congressman Major Owens presented a proposal for action. He suggested that if 2008 really is too late, then it is time to demand action. We must go to the offices of local members of the House of Representatives to argue for impeachment. If the Representative is not amenable to the idea, then we must be committed to stage a "sit-in for impeachment."

Peace and justice advocate and U.S. Air Force veteran Rev. Lennox Yearwood is challenging the Air Force’s attempt to label his activities ‘inconsistent with national security’ as a cause for his discharge from the Ready Reserve.

This move against Rev. Yearwood is part of a pattern of government harassment targeting anti-war veterans. The specific citation used in this case suggests an outrageous attempt to attack the reputation and credibility of this powerful voice for justice. The section cited reads: ‘misconduct or immoral or professional dereliction, behavior clearly not consistent with national security.’

Flag Wars is the fourth film in the Washington Peace Center's Cost of War film series.

Shot over four years, "Flag Wars" is a poignant 90-minute account of economic competition between two historically oppressed groups, seen through the politics and pain of gentrification. The setting could be any city with a once stable working and middle class black community, now aging and economically depressed, in danger of losing control of their neighborhoods as wealthier home buyers gentrify block by block. In this case, the neighborhood is in Columbus, Ohio and the home buyers are largely white and gay.

A USA Today/Gallup poll released this week shows that 7 out of 10 people in this country want all the troops brought home from Iraq. What a contrast with August 2003 when fewer than 4 out of 10 were opposed to the war! The crisis in Iraq and our work have created this shift!

But still Bush runs for cover and continues to say that troops should be left in Iraq to fight the real war on terror! We cannot let that happen! We need to grapple with several questions:

* What is our strategy given the political moment?
* How are we going to engage that 70% - developing an even broader, politically engaged network at the grassroots?
* How can each of us in our neighborhoods and communities reach out to people who have not been actively involved in ending this war?

For this coming Saturday's July 21st session features lobby get together and strategy session. We will have an agenda, general literature, targeted phone-banking numbers, letter writing materials with a focus on the L.A. The Center is intended to be a nationwide resource for advancing the impeachment of George W. Bush & Richard B. Cheney and for collecting petition signatures.

With all the rancor, myths, and misinformation swirling about regarding impeachment of elected officials, it was refreshing to watch a calm, reasoned, and yet passionate discussion of the topic on last Friday's Bill Moyers Journal on PBS. Moyers had both conservative and liberal individuals in the discussion. What was interesting to me was that these political labels mattered less than the respect shown for the US Constitution and the principles upon which our country was founded.

This Saturday, July 21, you are invited to watch the Bill Moyers Journal program and engage in followup discussion to be further educated about the issue and what relevant actions you can take. We hope to make a powerful visual statement to thousands of people driving to work. We will walk in chains, wear the orange Guantanamo prisoner suits with black hoods and be guarded and subjected by American soldiers in fatigues.

We hope to upset commuters'usual morning thoughts and provoke contemplation of these abuses througout the day by an image that they cannot forget, seen three days in a row.

After having time to think about torture being carried out in our name, they may be more inclined to take a few minutes of their time to sign a petitition and get involved through contacting local elected officials.

Marchers will assemble on the morning of July 23rd at Arlington National Cemetery and march to the Capitol Hill office of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers to urge him to begin impeachment proceedings. Participants plan to sit in, read the US Constitution aloud, and if necessary face arrest. Similar sit-ins will happen the same day in Conyers' district offices in Michigan.

Last year, Congressman John Conyers participated in several Detroit townhall meetings in which he promised to the people: if Democrats were to win the elections in November 2006, he would uphold the law and the will of the people and impeach the war criminals currently holding the titles of President and Vice President of the United States of America.

“We want to invoke for them the feminine priorities of nurturing, safety, and justice,” explains Sherry Glaser of Breasts Not Bombs. “The American people are tired of the rising body count and spending $1.8 billion a week on the war in Iraq, and they have made clear their priorities are the health and well being of this nation.”

Join us in front of Jerry Nadler's office to demand the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes. Nadler is Chair of the House Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, which has jurisdiction over impeachment.

July 23rd is the fifth anniversary of the Downing Street Meeting, the meeting at which the head of British intelligence reported that Bush and Cheney were intent on invading Iraq and were going to "fix the intelligence and facts around the policy." This July 23rd will be the culmination of a march/drive led by Cindy Sheehan and others from Bush's hometown of Crawford, Texas to Washington, D.C. where Cindy Sheehan will visit Congressman John Conyers and ask that impeachment be put back on the table. If Speaker Pelosi still refuses to endorse impeachment, then Cindy Sheehan will announce her candidacy for Speaker Pelosi's seat in the House of Representatives.

On Monday, July 23rd at 7:30 P.M. the Takoma Park, MD City Council will vote on a resolution that calls for Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against Vice President Cheney and President Bush. If the measure passes, Takoma Park will become the first municipality in the Washington, DC area to pass an impeachment resolution. Currently eighty towns and cities across the country have passed impeachment resolutions, including Detroit, MI, San Francisco, CA, Chapel Hill, NC, several towns in Vermont and, most recently, West Hollywood, CA. The Rules of the House of Representatives allow Congress to accept petitions from state and local governments, which are then recorded by the Clerk of the House in the Congressional Journal.

Oversight Committee Announces Hearing on Waste, Fraud, and Abuse in the U.S. Embassy Construction Project in Baghdad's Green Zone

WASHINGTON, DC - On Thursday, July 26, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a hearing on construction delays and problems plaguing the U.S. Embassy construction project in Baghdad, a $592 million project.

Members of ImpeachForPeace.org, a national organization working for justice and accountability in government, will meet with Representatives in DC Thursday and Friday, July 26th and 27th to present them with thousands of petitions formally initiating the impeachment of Vice President Richard Cheney.

ImpeachForPeace.org organizers Larkin Corvin and Jodin Morey (the author of the ³Do-It-Yourself² Impeachment Petition) will meet with Rep. Maxine Waters and Keith Ellison. We'll also meet with the offices of Rep. Jerrold Nadler Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Robert Wexler, and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

These House Reps are part of the Judiciary Committee, which currently has a resolution (House Resolution 333) to impeach Vice President Cheney. We'll be presenting the petitions and urging these representatives to support impeachment on behalf of the majority of Americans who have indicated that they support the impeachment of Vice President Cheney.

In this climate of increasing demand for impeachment and where a constitutional crisis could be shaping up as the Bush White House denies subpoenas from Congress, the people must enter into this situation, demanding resolution in the interests of people of the world and this country.

The color of orange must be everywhere. On Orange Fridays, pick a regular spot. Distribute orange bandanas, ribbons, armbands, plastic emergency tape, and signs. Distribute the WCW Call. Encourage all to wear orange in their daily lives and to take orange for all those who ask, �What does that orange mean?� Encourage them to bring five friends to the Orange Friday the following week.

I will be at this intersection and will probably wander throughout Downtown Westminster along East & West Main Street, Liberty Avenue and Railroad Avenue. I expect to see alot of traffic during the day and will be holding a large orange sign with "HONK TO IMPEACH CHENEY".

I will also have a clipboard with many petitions for people that I meet on the sidewalks in Westminster.
