Electoral College: The 5-90-95 Expressway to Victory

Chris Bowers has a new Electoral College projection that is very exciting: Obama 276, McCain 171, Toss-up 91.

And Bowers makes a fascinating observation:

McCain's tenuous support in the southeast is particularly interesting. There isn't a single state in the entire eastern seaboard where McCain holds a solid lead.

Which got me thinking: could Obama win all of I-95, from Maine to Florida? That would be incredible since he'd have to win Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. A far easier task is winning I-95 from Washington to California - Kerry won those in 2004. And Obama's map might even include I-90, going east-west from New York to Washington.

There's no harm in dreaming, is there?
