Conyers Investigates New Impeachable Crimes

Investigative reporter Ron Suskind's book "The Way of the World" has exposed new impeachable crimes by the Bush Administration, and House Judiciary Chair John Conyers has launched an investigation.

Suskind's most important revelation is that Iraq's Intelligence Minister, Gen. Tahir Jalil Habbush al Takriti, became a U.S.-British spy two months before George Bush invaded Iraq. Habbush insisted Iraq had no WMD's or Al Qaeda ties, but Bush didn't want the truth because he was determined to invade Iraq.

Bush told his briefers, "why don’t you tell him to give us something we can use to make our case?"

This is the most direct proof yet that George Bush knew Iraq had no WMD's or Al Qaeda ties, yet deliberately lied about them to Congress and the American people. According to 60 Minutes, Bush received a similar report in 2002 from Iraq's Foreign Minister Naji Sabri, who was also a U.S. spy.

Suskind also reveals that months after the invasion, when no WMD's or Al Qaeda ties were found, the White House ordered the CIA to forge a letter from Habbush to "prove" both. The CIA produced that forgery and gave it to neocon mouthpiece Con Coughlin of Conrad Black's U.K. Telegraph, who lied about the "letter" on Meet the Press with Tom Brokaw. (Brokaw, unlike Dan Rather, has never been held accountable for promoting a forged document.) By law, the CIA is specifically prohibited from creating propaganda to mislead Americans, so when the Bush Administration ordered the CIA to produce the Habbush forgery, they committed yet another impeachable crime.

On Thursday, John Conyers told Democracy Now that he is actively investigating Suskind's revelations and may call Habbush and others as witnesses.

Of course Conyers' biggest problem is convincing Speaker Nancy Pelosi that George Bush committed a single crime. Pelosi was asked about impeachment repeatedly this week during her book tour; even the NY Times called it her Why-Haven’t-You Impeached-the-President Tour. Yet Pelosi insists Congress has no evidence that Bush committed any crimes at all. One activist politely handed Pelosi a copy of Dennis Kucinich's 36 Articles of Impeachment, so we gave him a $1,000 reward. We will continue to offer awards up to $1,000 for citizen journalists who get Pelosi to give a substantive answer to our simple question: "Of the 36 detailed Articles of Impeachment introduced by Dennis Kucinich, do you consider any to be crimes?"

Congress will return on September 8 to work for 3 weeks before adjourning to campaign. With Suskind's new evidence Bush's crimes, Speaker Pelosi could call a lame-duck session in November to vote on Articles of Impeachment - exactly as Speaker Newt Gingrich did in 1998.

Conyers, like Kucinich, Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer and others...

are only some of the supposedly heavyweights within the leadership of our party.

They have been talking for over 8 years now without results. Would that such supposed heros and heroines DO something for a change instead of just wearing out their jaws and tongues.

These people are worthless to we the people and to the country.

Do they not feel shame?

Hi grinch, Conyers was on Democracy now by phone and said he (Conyers had only had the book for three days and even a speed reader couldn't do it faster if they had a law degree. I agree. It didn't take a minute for the Bush Administration to do the deed, and it will take top lawyers with good and precise cases presented to undo them. We have to have faith in our laws sometime. There is 76 days until the election and boy have they started growing cajones!

They are old school, but still know all the I's dotted and T's crossed are necessary, then who to present it before the people, without making it a political madhouse, by the whiny neoconmen still on the rethugliKlan side of the isle.

I've been praying for this and God hears America, so He may not be there when you want Him to be there, but God is always right on time.

I say this because in Rev It says: "And he decieved all the nations to wage wars" Rumors of wars, ect... ect..

God has frowned on this country's choice of leaders. TWO Oilmen, that rob you at the pump and destroy God Earth to boot. You should have listened to the people of the 70's and 80's.

Conyers isn't going to do anything. The democrats have no more interest in protecting the constitution than the republicans do. If it comes to taking a political risk, nobody gives a damn that BushCo has looted the treasury, instituted a policy of torture, broken the military, illegally spied on Americans, etc.

As long as impeachment's off the table, re-election is off the table.

THERE WILL BE NO IMPEACHMENT

For whatever reason they have, the Democrats WILL NOT IMPEACH OR EVEN HAVE A HEARING ON THE CHARGES.
Whenever they call me, I tell them AS LONG AS THERE IS NO IMPEACHMENT, THERE WILL BE NO DONATIONS TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. If they never impeach him, it's fine by me. More money in my pocket and more money to the progressive candidates I SUPPORT.

If the Democrats are not part of the solution (IMPEACHING bu$h/cheney), then they are part of the problem.

THE US HAS THE BEST DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY.

Gotta go, We usually didn't answer the polls during the primary to keep the election machines at bay, by lack of percentages to cheat by. I don't know if we should pay too much attention to them because, polling is a way to count who votes for whom and gives the cheaters a chance. We already had two elections stolen and this is our third strike. We're gonna hit a home run on this, because they don't know the margins to cheat by.

So, a word to the wise. "Don't pay attention to the polls, the American Revolution for Change will not be televised daily through the media pollsters." We don't trust them as much as we don't trust Bush and Cheney.

Conyers Releases Letters Initiating Investigation into Alleged Iraq Intelligence Forgeries

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) today released a series of letters initiating the Judiciary Committee's review into allegations that senior administration officials approved the creation of fabricated documents to deceive the American public about the nuclear threat posed by Iraq in 2003. The Committee contacted a number of administration and intelligence officials seeking their cooperation with its review. The correspondence is linked below.

Bush, Cheney and Co will go down in the face of History, it's been cristal clear from day 1.

Double Impeachment was the only way out for America to restore its value, but it's too late now. The moment was after the 2006 elections - early 2007 max. After that, Reps had a great time raising the electoral issue and Dems feared for a backlash.

What must be done before the elections is to get rid of the mad hatters that want to keep pulling the threads.

Sending a bunch of letters to previously uncooperative agencies just gives an excuse to stall and blame Bush's DOJ for not cooperating in Bush's impeachment. Duh.
