Bush Steals Election MANDATE - Invoke the 25th Amendment!

Before the 2006 election, many of us believed Bush and Rove would find a way to steal it - by disenfranchising Democratic voters, rigging the machines, demonizing our candidates, starting a war, or all of the above.

When the election results came in and Democrats swept both houses of Congress, we were shocked that Bush and Rove had failed. Some leading progressive bloggers even said, "we told you Rove isn't omnipotent!"

Well they were wrong.

Bush and Rove couldn't steal the election because too many anti-Bush voters went to the polls. So they decided to do the next best thing - STEAL OUR MANDATE!

in a wide-ranging session in the Oval Office [with Pentagon Post bootlicker Peter Baker], the president said he interpreted the Democratic election victories six weeks ago not as a mandate to bring the U.S. involvement in Iraq to an end but as a call to find new ways to make the mission there succeed. He confirmed that he is considering a short-term surge in troops in Iraq, an option that top generals have resisted out of concern that it would not help.

WTF????????

Do you know anyone who voted for Democrats as a way to encourage Bush to send more troops to be killed or maimed in Iraq? Only 11% of Americans support that option, and they probably voted for space aliens.

Of course Bush is wrong and we will fight this battle with Bush politically by demanding that Congress immediately block all additional funds for Iraq. If you can come to DC on January 3-4, please join Cindy Sheehan and Gold Star Families for Peace as they walk the halls of Congress to get out of Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney.

But with a growing number of Americans wondering if Bush has simply lost his mind, we can also invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, which was adopted in 1967 to deal with any situation in which the President became "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."

If you think Bush is insane, sign our petition to invoke the 25th Amendment at MadGeorge.us.

election mandate

In an odd way, W. is right (never thought I'd say that) - but let me explain. Americans are a fickle lot. They signed on to a war on false premises, and then, once in, collectively, said well democracy isn't a bad goal. As they were led further down the garden path, the disillusionment started to set in and support eroded. This change was mostly, however, a product of seeing our own get blown up and in spite of W's mad race to try to spin it as something other than what it was; it was obvious that we were losing not just an occasional battle, but the entire war. At that point, the public lost all interest in "staying the course" and started questioning how and why we got to this point. However, we also ought to understand that if we were actually 'winning' - i.e., still occupying the country but without American casualties - I think the public perception would be positive and the majority would support it. Americans like to win and they are sore losers. The more apparent it is that we are losing, the fewer people support the policy. We are fairweather friends in most contexts. So to interpret the election as a mandate to win isnt' so far fetched. The problem is that this whole debacle is unwinnable and W. is still trying to spin it so he can retreat without his tail between his legs. After all, Barney still supports him, but then, he's dependent on W. for food.

Did We win?

Who's on who's side?
Is it just me or does anybody else see what I'm seeing? We look at 911 as a terriost act and it was, but not 1 person came from either country we have invaded. So we attacked and are trying to take over 2 countries that are innocent of 911, which actually I think was an inside job but even if they were telling the truth, not 1 person was from either country! Looking back through history did not Hilter, Alexander the great and other tyrants do the same for money, power? That would make us terriorists would it not? Innocent is a 2 way street and knowing this now count how many people have died and 911 that had nothing to do with it. That puts all those that have died, been crippled or damaged on both sides victims not of 911 but of our own government. Forced freedom is not freedom, it is communism at best. And what of the kids we have that have died and been crippled for a lie?
Why is the American people having to argue with our new Democrats to uphold our laws? Are they in support of the same agenda, sure looks like it. Our very basis we formed this country on has been violated, your and my rights. I gotta admit, I was a Democrat but after seeing what is going on, has gone on I am just an American. I see no difference in the two parties or the ones they have created, I hear "we are hear to protect you" yet they strip away the very foundation of this once great country to protect me from people that have never harmed us. Hitler worked it about the same calling the people "Sheeple". My grandfather fought in WW2 and when I asked him about the German people being bad he said no, they for the most part wasn't bad they were fooled into thinking Hitler and the government was good until it was too late. I was told that in the early 70s. Those getting the news from TV are not too bright, TV is to entertain you not educate you.You need to turn off the TV and apply that time to something useful. We the people have power left, just stop using products (TV included) that are part of the problem.

If we have to fight with the new representives to do their job then we are no better off than before. Yes we sent a message on the vote but appently it was either Not Heard or Ignored. If we allow this to continue we deserve everything we get but our children deserve so much better than us because we are ignorant and cowardly. If the new ones elected will not challenge the problems then maybe they too should be impeached as well.

Some

Of what you say I have pondered. I would just like to point out that actually noone from the new Congress has taken office yet. Lets give them a chance anyway. One bad statement from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi doesn't spell doom immediately. Brick by Brick......

The truth I think you were alluding to in your post was that Americans nowdays seem to eager to allow themselves to be manipulated like the Germans did, and I do believe that has some validity. We allow media and politicians to successfully compare this "War on Terror" with WWII when historically thats ludicrous. There is nothing in the "Islamo-facist" world that even comes close to the Pazer units the Germans deployed, or the Japanese Navy, or the German submarines. Where is the "Islamo-facist" equivilant to Rommell, Tojo, or any of the Japanese and German officers. There is no comparison yet daily millions of Americans are fed, and are eating the sour lemon that we are in a War the same as WWII. It is just intellctually mind-numbing.

Since you are new, I can tell you like anyone here, if you want to wonder about conspiracies, look into PNAC.

Considering

One definition of insane is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I signed your petition.

Is this coming to America?

So true but still we were not even by Bush's own accounts attacked by either country or citizen thereof. I go where the evidence takes me and it says that a video I just watched looks like we are previewing what is in store for our country, especially given the Patriot Act and other bills passed that are unAmerican. Here is a link to a video that explains why we are losing the war we should even have started. Also if the ones that have already spoken not to Impeach Bush feel that way we should make an example of them by adding them to the list
