BlogCall3 with John Byrne and Larisa Alexandrovna of Raw Story.com
Blogcall3 will feature John Byrne and Larisa Alexandrovna of Raw Story.com exposing how Tom Delay's extravagant trips were illegally funded by a "charity" called NCPPR... how NCPPR illegally raised its money by scamming the elderly with Social Security fright letters... and how rightwing lobbyist Jack Abramoff connects the two.
Raw Story is one of the leading independent news sources online and has broken numerous investigative stories. Raw Story is also working with bloggers and progressive radio to create a conduit of "quick response" news.
John Byrne is the founder and editor-in-chief of Raw Story Media and Larisa Alexandrovna is the news editor.

With regard to the substance of the blogcall3, I found it more professional than I expected for reputed conspiracy theorists, as Charlie Quidnunc would have it (by the way, I listened to Charlie's podcast yesterday, and found it a nice way to "listen" to blog posts instead of listening to the radio).
The speakers were blogger-journalists from rawstory, who were digging up dirt on House Republican and their relationships with Jack Abramoff, which was discussed in another Centerfield post today. As one listens to the web of connections rawstory is publicizing, one could imagine they have uncovered a conspiracy. Some on the left might think they are heroes, while some on the right may think they are paranoid. In fact, what they relate is credible information about relationships between politicans, lobbyists, and political operatives, most or all of which are probably legal. The one question I asked was whether there were any illegalities. The speakers pointed to possible violations by DeLay in the Korea and Britain trips, but at least so far, not in any of the further areas of their investigation.

This will probably be looked at as a trivial statement
I live in a small town in Texas. The town is predominately Republican. Being a Yellow Dog Democrat I operate under the radar. I shy away from any discussions on politics.
Yesterday I went to H.E.B., a large grocery chain. I passed thru the deli to pick up a few items and couldn't help but over hear a group of elderly men talking about our President. They were furious over everything. They voted for Bush and now they feel they have been lied to. They were really mad about Iraq, stating we are not responsible for creating democracy all over the world. They were really complaining about Bush wanting to go to war all of the time.
As I passed through the isles to pick up items there were small white notes attached to several items, we keep a lot of alcohol in our home in small spray bottles to fight bacteria. The little white note stated "We are sorry that prices have gone up". I saw notes like this all over te store.
Then as I checked out the lady who was working behind the counter was complaining about the price of food. She initiated the conversation by saying that she liked Bush when she first voted for him, but now she is totally disgusted and called him a liar and stated he had "hood-winked" by this man. She went on to point out that he was no different than John Kerry, the only difference, Kerry admits he is not from Texas. She called Bush an elitist and a spoiled brat who has ruined our country.
I couldn't believe what I heard. We need to applaud our elderly. They were the ones who stood up and said NO to Bush's "War" room.
Another thing that was said that Bush refers to every issue as an issue he is "placing in a war room", what is that about she said.
I told her the only thing we can do is vote. She said that in 2006 the people better balance out Congress and state and local races.
This was the "chatter" from a little town in Texas.
Wow. Sounds good to my ears.
