Prager feels sorry for girls that haven't been sexually harassed

3:00 minutes (705.96 KB)

It really is amazing to hear the outrageous things right-wing talkers will say on the radio. This bilous vomit... There is just no excuse for this.

I've got a daughter. One of my biggest fears for her is that she will fall victim to the social pressures that compel young girls to put up with affronts to their dignity, autonomy and personhood. Of course I'm going to educate her about what is and isn't acceptable behavior from the boys she attends school with.

Evidently Prager would rather have us all live in caves. In Prager's abject world, it must have been better when men imposed "love" at the end of a club.

Race in the race

1:26 minutes (341.27 KB)

The interview aired 2 weeks ago, on May 21. I thought it was interesting to note how ol' Joe, marcher for civil rights, framed Obama in his introductory remarks.

I figure if we have guys on our side that shape our language and consult on communications; well... they do too. And I think this is probably just about perfect pitch if your reaching for certain votes.

It's maddening though because it is just plausible enough that this could be an innocent gaffe - or not even a gaffe. In bringing it up, you risk blow-back for being touchy about race.

Anyway, I thought I'd flag it. We'll see if this metaphor (or metaphors like it) comes up more frequently as the campaign heats up...

How do you defend this?

This is one y'all can have some fun with in your own calls.

Whenever there is a Republican on your radio, call in and ask if they are supporting McCain.   After they say yes, ask them how they would go about explaining to women that John McCain left his first wife - a former swimsuit model - after she had been disfigured in a car accident.

If you have time, you may also want to explode some Republican heads by noting that John McCain admits to having a taste for the ladies in his book.  Ask Republicans if they think it's OK to put another skirt-chaser in the White House.

I provide an example above - this was with aa Republican House member (Trent Franks) from Arizona.

BillO on Barack Obama and Race

2:04 minutes (490.04 KB)

Listening to O'Reilly speak about race is really entertaining for those of us that like shooting fish in barrels. His entire premise - set out in the first part of this audio clip - is that he (and most right-thinking Americans) didn't like the idea of Barack Obama bringing up race. Obama's comment about the inevitability of racist appeals playing a role in this election was annoying to BillO.

BillO went on from there...

Blacks that support Obama are "rabid". Nothing wrong with that though.

Next... Bill was essentially asked why Obama speaking about race to a Black audience was any more offensive than Joe Lieberman talking about Jewish issues to a Jewish audience. BillO didn't want to g there, but he was willing to reiterate that he didn't like Obama talking about race.

Pelosi on judicial contempt proceedings and the election calendar

7:10 minutes (1.64 MB)

There's an AP report out that covers a hearing in District Court regarding the House's suit that would compel the attorney genereal to enforce the House subpoenas against Josh Bolton and HArriet Miers (in case you've forgotten, they refused to show up for hearings regarding the US Attorney purge scandal).

The article ends thusly (Bates is the Bush-appointed judge that is hearing the case):

Bates suggested that the two sides might still settle the dispute before he rules, avoiding a final court showdown altogether.
