MSNBC's Alex Witt is a Republican Liar

MSNBC's Alex Witt put Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) through a disgusting rightwing inquisition this morning.
At one point she grabbed some papers and angrily declared "What about Democratic scandals? I have a list right here. Should I read them?" She must be reading Ann Coulter's book about Joe McCarthy. Well Alex, we have a list too - and if you read it on the air, the Republican Party would be out of business in 5 minutes. I dare you!
At another point she angrily declared, "What about the Democratic groups that had the page information in April and failed to disclose it?" Alex, that's just a flat-out lie. No Democrats had any information about the page until ABC broke its story last Thursday. And the one independent group that did get the emails - Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) - got them on July 21, the same time as FOX News, the St. Petersburg Times, and other media outlets. But unlike everyone else, CREW didn't ignore the emails - instead they immediately turned them over to the FBI for an investigation - an investigation the Bush-controlled FBI refused to do.
Alex, you're a Republican liar - and we demand an on-air apology. Email viewerservices@msnbc.com
Update 1: As Media Matters reports, MSNBC's Chris Matthews let an unchallenged Republican tag team push conspiracy theories about purported Democratic role in Foley scandal:
On the October 6 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews allowed two Republican congressmen, Jack Kingston (GA) and Patrick McHenry (NC), to push wholly unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about Democrats' purported prior knowledge of communications former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) allegedly had with former congressional pages. While Matthews did occasionally press Kingston and McHenry to support their accusations during the segment, he did not host a Democrat or progressive to balance the discussion.
This is unacceptable. Email hardball@msnbc.com, viewerservices@msnbc.com
Update 2: John Aravosis reports CNN is spreading a lie that Foley resigned because CREW published his emails:
Foley resigned because ABC called him up and read him the salacious instant messages they'd just received from God-knows-who. CREW published the emails online AFTER ABC had already reporting on the emails and quoted the relevant substance. Not to mention, I published the emails online at the same time, as did RawStory, as did ABC I suspect and many others. So what exactly is CNN's point here?
Oh that's right, CNN and MSNBC and the rest of the mainstream media are trying to blame the Democrats for the fact that the Republicans coddled a child molester. I forgot that "fairness" means blaming both parties even though only one screwed up.

I Cannot STAND....
Alex Witt! This morning, she kept bringing up the Gerry Studds thing from 1983 (wasn't disco a big thing way back then? Leisure suits?) when she was talking to Bill Press. That doesn't even doesn't even compare to the magnitude of this current scandal. She is--without mincing words--a stupid, opinionated, conservative bitch. She prefers talking about Paris Hilton--her eyes just light up when she gets to talk about the fluff.
Go Midwestblue!
Rant on! You said it all! Thanks!
Is Alex a mother?
Is Alex a mother? Does she want her children to be preyed on by the likes of Mark Foley? Did they teach her things like this at the prestigious Marlborough School for Girls? She must have been asleep when they taught logic and reason. From the looks of the picture, she didn't however miss industrial makeup application and helmet hair design. The Republicans just can never admit that they are wrong or guilty. They are taught to pass the buck at an early age. Alex is just mad because the last big news scoop that she got was when she was the first to report on a new brand of douche bags. She is best sticking to topics that she knows about. It takes a real douche bag to know a good one.
Atleast MS-NBC has
Atleast MS-NBC has Olbermann.

Sirs,
I am deeply, deeply distressed of the conduct of Alex Witt on Saturday morning. She has gone way over the line of journalism. I grew up in an America where the country had faith in their journalists to report the news and let the nation think for themselves. This brand of journalism is nothing more than right wing ideology being pushed down our American throats. This is nothing more than a cheap shot at anyone who does not agree with this administration’s wrapped view of the country and the world.
NBC as well as ABC and CBS have the Constitutional obligation to report the news and hold their “reporters” personal views for the appropriate time slot given to opinions. In the 60’s and early 70’s WNEW-TV, channel 5, in New York City, have a point counter point segment. There were 2 commentators and they were given equal time to express their opinions. That was fair and unbiased news. The station let views be heard and their viewers decide what side they wanted to support.
In the tradition of Huntley and Brinkley I ask you to adhere to quality, unbiased (right or left) journalist tactics if it is not going to be stated as opinion. Thank you for the time in reading this and hope that it will be taken seriously.
Alex Witt makes me gag!
Alex Witt's commentary for the PRESIDENT DANCES WITH AFRICAN DANCE GROUP video on MSNBC is annoyingly light-hearted. Bush looks like a moron and he actually cuts in on the bongo/drum-player, proving once again that he has no tact or sense of respect. Watch it and see how she's insipidly amused.
You're All Wrong
You have your opinions. She has hers. She's not dumb. Believe me. That woman has more sense in her pinky than most have in their entire body. Seriously. People have their opinions, people call it like they see it. Sometimes they step out of bounds. Let's not attack character.
So you're saying that
So you're saying that defending Mark Foley's sexual preying on teenagers is just an "opinion," and that because someone else may have done bad things, he should be given a pass? I believe that most Middle Americans would classify defending a sexual predator as deviant behavior in, and of, itself.
Alex Witt may not be "dumb," but she and you are the ones who are wrong -- not Democrats.com. Her "opinion" is purely right-wing rubbish, and disregards the damage done to the victims. She is no better than Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and the rest of the neocon faux-news mouthpieces who attempt to defend this good-old-boy neocon and un-American corporate cabal of thieves and misfits.
There are reasoned opinions which portray the whole story, and then there are just plain outrageous one-sided opinions which defy reason and logic. Witt's Republican spin falls into the latter category.
Trae, Witt has the right to her opinions...
as do we all, but she has no right to ignore the FACTS. This she has clearly done. She has clearly demonstrated that her talent(however limited it obviously is)is for sale. Sort of makes her just another reich-wing prostitute does it not?

bullshit
Hate how the rightwing has bought the press out.
I GET IT
I never said that what she said was right.... I agree 100% about ignoring the facts. I was merely saying you shouldn't attack her character. The end.
Trae, the lady in question has no character...
she is in the entertainment business. A news reader, not a researcher. People who live and work in the public eye are aware that they have little value.
I wonder if perhaps she, like the pretzeldent, was a cheerleader once upon a time?
